Butterflies of Montana
Gathering a sampling of the wonderful butterflies we have in Montana, I have attempted to replicate some of my favorite layouts from the 19th century during the height of the scientific illustration era. These organized, systematic approaches to the diversity of the flora and fauna really helped me cope with the pandemic era isolation and confusion. I really like how combining the rigidity of the layoutwith the colorful butterflies results in a contrast between beauty and control.
The prints are made by the artist here in Missoula, Montana on acid-free fine art matte paper in three sizes and are also available as notecards.
