A pastel pencil drawing of a Cedar Waxwing taken from a reference image I shot at Bancroft pond here in Missoula. I had been wanting to explore the light and shadows in a Waxwing and this moody and shadowy reference was the perfect starting place. This piece won an award in 2025 at the annual Frame of Mind gallery show.
I'll definitely be revisiting pastel pencil in the future.
