Flathead Childhood
This drawing is the fourth entry in the "Western History Series". It depicts a Flathead Child striking a confident pose with a foot propped on the trunk of a ponderosa pine tree. The elaborate bead work, headdress, and moccasins suggest a ceremonial outfit possibly worn for the tourists in the area at the time.
The drawing is based on a 1906 photograph by Edward Curtis taken near Kalispell, Montana.
The prints are made by the artist here in Missoula, Montana on acid-free fine art matte paper in three sizes and are also available as notecards.
